Space-Time Insight’s Visual Analytics Software Powers Innovative Smart Grid Solution
SAN MATEO Calif., June 10, 2014 – Space‐Time Insight, the leading provider of next‐generation situational intelligence solutions, announced that Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) has won the 2014 Ovum “On the Radar” award for Big Data and Analytics for their Situational Awareness and Visual Intelligence (SAVI) initiative. Ovum’s “On the Radar” awards recognize technology innovation, highlighting the innovative ideas, products, or business models that enable end-user organizations to create real value in their businesses. The visualization and analysis of data used in the SAVI system was provided by Space-Time Insight.
SMUD set goals for SAVI to improve the speed and quality of data analysis and decision-making throughout the organization’s Grid Planning and Operations department. In only six months, SMUD used Space-Time Insight’s situational intelligence software to integrate and correlate data from some 30 disparate systems and transform it into a rich set of real-time visual analytics applications.
“SMUD is proud to have won the “On the Radar” award and to be recognized for our vision and innovation,” said Paul Lau, Assistant General Manager, Power Supply and Grid Operations, SMUD. “As a result of our collaboration with Space-Time Insight, we are now able to make faster, higher-quality decisions and deliver more reliable service to our customers.”
“The “On the Radar” awards recognize companies that demonstrate vision, innovative thinking and outstanding application of technology,” said Stuart Ravens, industry analyst, Ovum. “We were highly impressed with what SMUD accomplished with their SAVI initiative and believe they have more than earned the 2014 award for Big Data and Analytics.”
